In PvE a monk should only carry rebirth because you should *not* be the one who's resing in the middle of battle (stopping to heal to waste 8 seconds on res will result in a dead you or dead someone else). In case the battle is hopeless, you'd be the one to run away, and then come back to pull your mates out into safety, so you all can regroup and move on. Of course, it's better if the wamo carries rebirth since he's more likely to stay alive and be able to run to safety, but wamos are too unpredictable so you can't really rely on that

If light of dwayna didn't have a pathetically small range, it would actually be useful (for someone that has more base energy than a monk) ... I somehow don't see my teammates always dying all nicely packed together.
Restore life is nice because the revived person is more ready for action, but it will not save your party in cases when rebirth will. And if someone thinks waiting a few secs for the monk's energy to recharge is too much to ask, you probably don't want to be in a team with them anyway ...
Vengence has its uses, but to make it a permanent res you need to devote a 2nd slot, which could be taken up by something to keep people alive instead.

For PvP, carry a res sig to random and team 4v4 arenas, but usually monks don't carry any res at all in Tombs. Basic reasoning behind it is the same as in PvE - if a monk starts resing people, more people will die meanwhile. And, of course, monks are the most likely ones to fall face down in dirt first anyway, being the primary target.

In PvE I mostly use Rebirth or Restore Life.
In PvP it depends on what kind of PvP I am playing and what role.
For instance in the arenas I usually bring Res Sig~, although in the tombs and GvG I dont bring any Rez skills since it's a waste of time and more will die on that time. It's the others job to bring res.
